As the first phase and one aspect of a project funded by a grant from the McGregor Fund to establish an undergraduate research center, over 60 students will be preparing digital abstracts in the 2010-11 academic year. Subsequent phases will expand the number of students completing digital abstracts until all seniors are preparing digital abstracts, in addition to the other aspects of the project. Below is some information and some guidelines for students preparing digital abstracts.
Due date: Third Friday after IS Monday. For 2010-2011, this will make the due date Friday, April 15.
Length: Abstracts are typically short, even for long papers. Students should try to limit their abstracts to between 500 and 1,000 words or 2-3 minutes for multimedia.
Getting help: Students can request one-on-one consultations with a member of Instructional Technology by completing the request form found here. One-on-one consultations can be requested up to the week the abstracts are due. Instructional Technology will also hold open lab hours on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2-4, from now until the abstracts are due.
Submission: Students should submit their abstracts using the Digital Abstract Submission Form.
