Teams

Best Practices: Teams

Educational Technology has worked to put together our list of some of the top best practices you should use for Teams. This list will be updated frequently as we come across new suggestions.

End meeting

The new “End meeting” feature in Microsoft Teams allows a meeting organizer to end the call for all participants. #panicbutton

Custom backgrounds

New backgrounds are available now in Teams video calls. Uploading a custom image is coming soon.

Record a presentation & screen share in Teams

Using “Meet now” to Record a Presentation and Share your Screen

Use the “Meet now” feature in Microsoft Teams to record yourself giving a presentation with your web camera, microphone, and screen sharing. The recording is saved automatically to your Stream account. Watch our 2 minute video in Stream to learn how.

Create a Stream Channel using a Group or Team

Stream is our Office365 video streaming solution. To organize videos or allow others (students in your class) to share videos with the group, you can create a Group Channel from an Outlook Group or a Team.

VPN for off-campus access

Virtual Private Networking or VPN is intended to provide access to on-campus resources from off-campus. You only need VPN to access Colleague (Datatel), WordPress blog administration (Voices, Spaces, Discover), and file shares such as the O: drive.

The College’s supported VPN software is Global Protect which is available for Windows, Mac, and now mobile devices. Visit the IT wiki for directions.
