New Features

Did you know that Microsoft is constantly rolling out features for Office 365? Here are some of the newest and upcoming features you will see soon in Streams, Teams, and PowerPoint. Please note that the coming soon features are only estimating when they will be rolled out by Microsoft. We do not have any control when Microsoft releases new updates.

Stream

Screen Recording (5/11/2020): You can now you can create short screen recordings of up to 15 minutes, including your camera and microphone, without any additional software using Stream. To learn how to use this feature and supported browsers, please see “Create a Screen Recording” from Microsoft.

Teams (coming soon)

  • 3×3 video (9 video feeds on a screen): This new experience optimizes for attendees who have enabled video and places the remaining audio-only participants below the meeting stage. Microsoft plans on rolling this out to everyone by the end of this week.
  • Raise Hand: The new raise hands feature in Teams allows meeting attendees to identify that they wish to speak by toggling the hand icon in the meeting control bar, making it easier to actively participate in meetings. Microsoft estimates that this should be rolled out by the end of this week.
  • Multi Window Meetings and Calling experiences: Multi-window experiences are coming to Teams meetings and calling. Users will have the ability to pop out meetings and calling into separate windows to help them optimize their workflow. Microsoft estimates this should be rolled out by the end of June.

PowerPoint (coming soon)

PowerPoint Live: Live Presentations enables every audience member to view your presentation on their own device, like their laptop, tablet, or phone. Each audience member can turn on live captioning and choose subtitles from more than 60 languages. They can even navigate between slides, so they don’t miss a single, important detail from your presentation. You can watch a demonstration of it here from Microsoft product manager, Mike Tholfsen. Microsoft aims this to be available for everyone in June.

OneDrive and SharePoint (coming soon)

Automated transcription services: Natively available for video and audio files in OneDrive and SharePoint using the same AI technology available in Microsoft Stream. Microsoft states this will be a preview coming in June.

Outlook (coming soon)

Outlook on the web – Text predictions: Using smart technology, Outlook will predict text while you type. Just use the Tab key to accept the text prediction. Microsoft states this will be available to everyone this month.
