NCPH Digital Media Group

Recently, Educational Technology’s Megan Smeznik joined the National Council on Public History’s Digital Media Group as a committee member for the Digital Public Lab. Megan participated and led a workshop during the Digital Public Lab during the annual meeting for NCPH this year in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Digital Media Group is responsible for keeping the organization abreast about new technologies and how they might enhance NCPH’s work. The group also makes recommendations to the Board of Directors about these technologies. Moreover, the group oversees digital projects such as the NCPH blogs and promotes efforts to increase accessibility and innovation during the annual meetings.

As part of the Digital Public Lab, Megan will be working with the other Digital Public Lab team members to work on planning for the 2020 annual meeting’s iteration of the Digital Public Lab. The Digital Public Lab is a day long workshop that provides opportunities in collaborative learning, professional networking, and strategies for employing these tools in public history and adjacent fields of work. The Digital Public History Lab bills itself as “an informal, inclusive, participatory experience.” All learners are welcome regardless of tech skills. It is an environment that promotes and grows digital scholarship and pedagogy.

If you have questions on what Megan is working on or how it might benefit you in your research and the classroom, do not hesitate to reach out to Megan at msmeznik@wooster.edu.
