Profcast

What Is It?

Profcast is an application used to record indexed narration of a Power Point slide show. The indexed presentation can be distributed to students for review.

Key Features
  • Real time recording of a PowerPoint presentation that can include audio.
  • Once published, the recording contains an index that can be used to jump to specific points in the presentation.
Who uses it?

Profcast is used by educators to make indexed classroom PowerPoint presentation available to students for review or to record presentations that classroom time did not allow for.

How Does It Work?

The application imports the PowerPoint presentation and the user starts the recording. Profcast captures the speaker as he or she advances slides and creates index points each time a new slide is presented. When the presentation is finished, Profcast creates a video file with a slide index.

Things To Consider Before Using Profcast.

PowerPoint includes a narration tool that can be used to record audio. If this is all you wish to do, you may be able to accomplish it without using Profcast.

Uses as an Instructional Technology

  • For recording of class presentations by students and instructors
  • To supplement in-class lectures with video lectures.
  • To create narrated content summaries for longer lectures and units
